Clay Owl

Another project from sculpture class. We cut a slab of clay and dug into it. I think the technique was called bas relif. I had a reference picture but I didn't do it all just by looking. We traced the picture with water color pencil and pressed it into the clay so I knew sort of where things were; like where to put the eye, beak, where to end the wing, etc. I really like how it came out. It's painted with engobe (however you spell it)
